Bangalore: In an attempt to boost its open media production solutions, Avid has introduced an upgrade to its Media Composer video editing software for Mac and Windows. The company has also released new versions of its News Cutter news editing tool and the Symphony finishing system.
The new releases namely Media Composer 5.5, News Cutter 9.5 and Symphony 5.5 get the Phrase Find add-on that allows editors to quickly find clips and segments by searching for words or phrases used in audio tracks. Designed to match dialogue to a script, it uses Nexidia phonetic indexing engine. The latest versions of Media Composer and News Cutter add support for AJA's Io Express input and output interface.
Eucon support for integration with Avid control surfaces such as Avid Artist Control, Artist Transport and Artist Mix devices delivering greater flexibility for effects, audio and transport manipulation.
It should be noted that by allowing Media Composer to work with the hardware they already own, Avid is setting its eyes on the current users of other editing software, especially Apple Final Cut Pro.
